"...the key to maintaining integrity lies in an holistic approach that marries effective regulation to bespoke market aggregating technology and effective investigative techniques..."
Global Sports Integrity was founded by James Doughty, Mark Phillips and Oliver Codrington; collectively representing close to 20 years experience in this dynamic area.
Oliver and Mark each spent 6 years working for the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) as Head of Compliance and Licensing and Principal Betting Investigator respectively. These two roles were created by the horseracing regulator to meet the growing demands of the Integrity team charged with monitoring, investigating and prosecuting any threats to the integrity of horseracing in Great Britain. The BHA continues to lead the way for other sports - an independent review of Racing’s integrity led author, Dame Elizabeth Neville, to conclude that the BHA’s was a model for integrity in sports - and Oliver and Mark were key members of that team.
Oliver joined the BHA from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons where he worked as a caseworker processing complaints against veterinary surgeons in accordance with the college's Guide to Professional Conduct. Oliver is a qualified barrister, called in 2003, and completed his pupillage at the leading media and entertainment set, 5 Raymond Buildings.
Mark spent ten years working as an on course bookmaker in the UK, working at Royal Ascot, the Cheltenham Festival and 16 other tracks. He spent 4 years as a senior odds compiler/trader and horseracing manager at UKbetting PLC and then Centrebet International, one of Australia's largest bookmakers. For the last 6 years Mark has worked for the BHA in their Intelligence Unit as the Principal Betting Investigator. Mark also undertook all the betting analysis for the Association of Tennis Professionals in their 2007 investigation of a match involving Nikolay Davydenko in Sopot, Poland.
